This edition of Tee It Up Grand Strand takes us to Pawleys Island and True Blue Golf Club. Our guy Big D is on the scene to find out what’s cookin’ in the clubhouse and what is happening on the golf course as well.
First we visit with Megan, the Assistant Food & Beverage Manager at True Blue. She says they treat the customers, golfers and non-golfers wonderfully and as if they were dining at a fine restaurant. That is the kind of service to expect from the staff in the restaurant.
True Blue serves some world famous New England clam chowder that is a must try. Other favorites on the menu include a Cajun chicken club and the True Blue wrap. They also have seafood specials.
True Blue offers top shelf dining service. Many courses in the Myrtle Beach area offer call ahead ordering, where golfers can order their food before making the turn so it will be ready when they finish on No. 9. True Blue takes that service one step farther. Golfers can call the clubhouse grill to order food and the beverage cart will drive it out to the group on the course. That is amazing!!
Once the round is over, stick around to take advantage of the daily happy hour specials that are second to none on the Grand Strand. Happy Hour runs from 3:00 to close with compimentary bar snack and many drink specials. $1 off bottled beer, $4 house liquors and much more.
The golf course itself is a great test of golf. True Blue was designed by Mike Strantz and provides a bit of a links feel while out on the course. Wide, wide fairways framed by mounds and bunkers provide a beautiful view from tee to green for the golfers.
In fact, the entire property is full fantastic scenery. The management employs a full time horticulturalist to ensure the entire landscape is wonderful to look at. That is something that golfers will not find a most golf course and it really sets True Blue apart.
In the heat of the summer season, True Blue provides “Sizzling Summer Specials” that include replay rates and a chance to hop over and play their sister course Caledonia Golf and Fish Club.
