International Golf Club LogoDoug Donner, General Manager of the International Club joins host Shan Coughlin for this edition of Tee It Up Grand Strand the the Play International Club of Myrtle Beach April 2015 update.  The Golf Director would like to welcome the International Club to their featured golf course family and you can look forward to monthly updates about this truly unique course.

Built in the year 2000, this William Byrd design is nestled among a mixture of hardwood and pine trees and is caressed by finger lakes that are fed by underground streams.  When playing, you will also want to be mindful of the wetlands surrounding many of the holes.  Being known for having exceptional greens year-round, the course offers five sets of tees to  provide a challenge for players of all levels.  What makes this course unique is that each hole is named after and designed to remind the player of a different country.  You begin your journey in Scotland, head through Austria, Canada, Italy, Australia, Norway, Spain Mexico and then Germany fills out the front nine.  Your back nine begins in England and takes you through Israel, Switzerland, Japan, Portugal, Brazil, Ireland, France and you finish on number 18 in the United States.  While a challenging finishing hole, with a correctly positioned tee shot, birdie and even eagle may not be too far out of reach.

International Golf Club 2This courses is located on the south end of the Myrtle Beach area in Murrells Inlet, the quieter end of the beach, heading toward the low country.  Murrells Inlet is known for its restaurants along the boardwalk, entertainment and of course sea food.  You will see many locals and tourists alike dock their boat along side the restaurants and come in for an evening of great food, entertainment and friendly festivities.

Doug started his golf career at the International Club and has been there ever since working his way through the ranks to General Manager.  To hear his story, click on the player above or download the interview to your smart device for listen on demand.  For additional information about the course, the best rates and event schedules, go to their website by clicking on their banner to the right or go direct to www.internationalclubgolf.com.   There are many great packages available that include the International Club so if you are planning your golf vacation, ask about including the course that takes you around the world.
