Bill Hulett, PGA Professional, talks with host Shan Coughlin about Possum Trot Golf Club on this edition of Tee It Up Grand Strand. Bill shares information about the course, his favorite holes, the par 3 #13 and the par 5 #18, and the new editions to the state of the art Practice Facility located on site in the heart of the Grand Strand. Possum Trot is one of Shan’s favorite courses as it was one of the first she played and one of the first her husband worked for when he began his golf career. With long, wide, plush fairways, kuddos are handed out to Johnnie Powell, Superintendent, for always having Possum Trot in tip top shape.
Right now is the best time to play one of the Glens Group courses – Possum Trot, Heather Glen, Shaftesbury Glen and Glen Dornoch. Why? They are running a two for one card. Pay $39 plus tax (roughly $44) and you can play two rounds through the end of January and they don’t have to be at the same location. Bill even hinted that there may even be a card in February, well, he said there was going to be one in February, that it may be a couple dollars more.
Noted for being the friendliest course on the beach for years running, Possum Trot boasts longevity of employees, a trait difficult to find in this ever changing golf industry. This provides stability of expectations which keeps folks coming back year after year after year. As one of the oldest courses in the Myrtle Beach area, if you have not played Possum Trot in a while, you will definitely want to check it out again, if only to play the infamous 18th hole with it’s downhill fairway to the fountain adorned pond in front of the green which fronts the clubhouse and flag poles for a spectacular view.

Even Shan admitted that with two golfers in the family, it can be difficult to get the kids out on the course.
