Brett Thomaswick, PGA Head Golf Professional at Sandpiper Bay Golf & Country Club invites host of Tee It UP Grand Strand, Shan Coughlin, out to the course in Calabash North Carolina to see the results of the newly completed renovations to the course, look at what is still planned and talk about winter golf specials. Not only have many bunkers been filled in, moved, and/or re-shaped, there have been over 200 trees removed to make the course more friendly, more playable and easier to maintain meaning more consistent conditions throughout the year. Now that may seem like a lot of trees, but take a look at this video as Brett and Shan are out on the course. This is one of the most mature courses in town and with 27 holes, there are still plenty of Carolina Pines lining the fairways and providing shelter for the variety of wildlife here. Shan’s closest encounter with a gator came on Sandpiper Bay as she was looking for her ball at the water’s edge during a tournament when a fellow competitor grabbed her as she was reaching down and there, not 5 feet feet further into the pond, was a gator very interested in what she was doing.

Last but not least, Brett’s golf shop won the Bridgestone NFL display contest for the entire east coast.
