Meadowlands LogoShan Coughlin, host of Tee It Up Grand Strand, welcomes Jason Monahan, Head Golf Professional and General Manager from Meadowlands Golf Club to this edition of Play Meadowlands Golf Club the April 2015 Update.  This is the first interview about Meadowlands Golf Club specifically though we have welcomed Jason on air before to talk about the FootGolf Course out there which we will hear more about in the future.  The Golf Director is proud to welcome Meadowlands Golf Course as the newest member of the family along with its sister course Farmstead Golf Links.   Hear all about Farmstead as well by looking at the featured golf course pages on the destination tab here on TheGolfDirector.com.

MeadowlandsMeadowlands Golf Club is a bit older than it’s sister course, opening in 1995 to a Top 100 Women Friendly Courses you can play in the US, and is a more traditional parklands style surrounded by wetlands and native protected areas.  In 2012, the course underwent a renovation where the greens were redone with Tif Eagle Bermuda grass and two holes were completely redesigned along with other smaller improvements.   This course has a very down home country feel and is the members course to over 350 members of both Farmstead and Meadowlands with Farmstead being more of the resort course.

Meadowlands ClubhouseThis very popular membership is just one way to be a “member” of Meadowlands.  It is now part of the Platinum Golf Membership which includes member benefits at 25 different courses as of this interview date, a play 4 get the 5th free option, member events and special member pricing.  Still the best rates are online.   Jason tells Shan they have set the online rates very aggressively to be affordable, easy to do with no tricks – what you see is what it is – getting away from the “show me” rate which is high and then you call and get a lower one.

Meadowlands is unique for a couple of reasons.  One is that about two years ago, they made a decision to single tee.  This gives an opportunity for those who would like a later morning tee time to get it and for those who want to replay in the afternoon, there are times available because they are not blocked out by the double tee turn.  As mentioned earlier, Meadowlands is also home to the Grand Strand’s only FootGolf Course which is truly a ton of fun.  FootGolfers play right along side traditional golfers at certain times of the day and this provides another opportunity for families to do something together outdoors, as well as those who are more interested in kicking a ball than hitting it, somewhere to “play”.
