Beautiful North Myrtle Beach South Carolina once again plays host to one of the most successful Celebrity Pro-Am events in the world, The Hootie & the Blowfish Monday After the Masters celebrating 20 years in 2014. The Dye Club at Barefoot Resort plays host once again in what is sure to be a star-studded, hysterical, all around good time while raising money for the Hootie & the Blowfish Foundation. In addition to the Hootie & the Blowfish Foundation, Monday After the Masters, or MAM as it is affectionately known, also benefits the South Carolina Junior Golf Association. This organization is dedicated to teaching our youth the honor, sportsmanship and character of the game of golf, and preparing them to better face challenges down the road.
2014 marks the 20th Anniversary of the Monday After the Masters. Darius, Dean, Mark and Soni remain true to their philanthropic roots in hosting this one-of-a-kind event which attracts celebrities like former Carolina Gamecock Stars Marcus Lattimore and Connor Shaw. NASCAR champion Denny Hamlin has also committed to attend along with grammy award winning musician Branford Marsalis, Super Bowl champion quarterback Jim McMahon, Heisman Trophy winner George Rogers and two-time Daytona 500 champion Michael Waltrip. The list of professional have yet to be released (coming 3/14) but last year we enjoyed seeing Jim Furyk and Davis Love III among others. Tickets for the event went on sale Monday February 24th at 10am and sold out quickly. This event has sold out now eight consecutive years attracting a crowd of over 6,000 people. The schedule makes for a terrific weekend with the welcome party Saturday Night at the House of Blues for VIP ticket holders beginning at 9pm. Then Sunday there is a practice round for participants at the Dye Club, a participant brunch, the Masters Viewing Party and Silent Auction with VIP badge at the House of Blues followed by pairing party etc. Monday is the big event starting bright and early with ESPN’s Mike & Mike In the Morning on the first tee from 6 – 10 AM. The clubhouse will open at 8am and there is a Celebrity Long Drive Contest at 10:00 AM on the first hole. The tournament officially begins at 11 AM but shuttles will be bringing spectators over early from Barefoot Landing. Then Monday night is the famed VIP party with the Hootie & the Blowfish and Friends Concert.
The real winner of this whole event which entertains the spectators like no other, are the charities. The foundation supports hundreds of charities worldwide, donating over $1.8 million to date to multitudes of causes. Their support ranges from building community learning centers to outfitting school marching bands to simply providing educators with the tools they need to nurture children’s talents and help them succeed. As mentioned above, the SC Junior Golf Association is a huge benefactor of this event.
