From Tycoon Golf Club in  Shenzhen China to the Calusa Pines Golf Club in Naples Florida and a host of other outstanding properties, Dana Fry of Fry/Staka Global Golf Course Design has left his imprint on the game for centuries to come.  One can only attempt to imagine the challenges and satisfaction that such a resume entails. Perhaps one of his most satisfying accomplishments it the design of Erin Hills Golf Course in Erin, Wisconsin, the site of the 2017 U.S. Open Championship.

Fry recently appeared on TGD Radio’s Hooked on Hickories With Mitch Laurance and talked about his experiences from the beginning including those who have influenced his career the most. As a youth, he met Tom Watson who became his hero.  From his early days working with Andy Banfield and Tom Fazio,  learning to shape the earth from atop a bulldozer, to an encounter through Pete and Alice Dye that lead to his work with Michael Hurdzen, Dana Fry’s pathway to prominence as one this era’s top golf course designers,  couldn’t have been more perfectly crafted.
