the 2015 pga tourThe 2015 PGA Tour season has officially started, and it hasn’t gotten any easier (yet) for me wrap my head around this wrap-around season thing. But, I think we’re approaching an era of amazing golf competition at the professional level. The talent level and subsequent entertainment value present in the PGA is reason to be excited about this upcoming season and the future of the game of golf. There are many possible storylines to follow.

Does Tiger Woods Have Another Run in Him?

Obviously the return of a healthy Tiger is a top story for 2015. But, the fact that he has been absent from the top of the PGA Tour Leaderboard for so long has allowed others to shine and build momentum. With his intimidation factor at a career low, don’t expect his climb back to the top to be automatic. Having said that, I’m among those who believe he has another run in him. And, I totally agree that having him back in competition is great for the game.

The 2015 PGA Tour – Star Studded

Rickie Fowler showed marked improvement in every aspect of his game last season. He played spectacular golf and is poised for winning tournaments and possibly a major this year. How about Jason Day? This dude has a game! Jordan Spieth has now proven that he has what it takes to handle the pressures of professional golf, and he certainly has the talent to produce multiple wins this year. There was a time in the past season that it seemed Rory McIlroy might win every tournament. Then Billy Horschel caught fire, and missed winning three straight and possibly being on the Ryder Cup team by one flubbed 6 iron shot. Patrick Reed may not have become the top five player he referred to early in last season, but he certainly managed to prove during the Ryder Cup that he has the potential. Others like Jimmy Walker, Justin Rose, Sergio Garcia, and Adam Scott should continue to be competitors for the top of this coming year’s leader boards. Have I made it this far without mentioning Phil? He’s not finished yet, so he still has a shot at the elusive U.S. Open title. Then there’s Henrik Stenson, Martin Kaymer, and always Matt Kuchar with which all these aforementioned players have to contend. And what about Bubba? Bubba Watson is one of the most talented golfers to ever play the game when he can keep can control of whatever it is that causes him to lose focus.

A new Era

It seems like we’ve reached the beginning of a new era in the game with the The 2015 PGA Tour. We’re seeing some extremely talented youth winning early tournaments and contending for majors. Having so many potential winners every week makes for great entertainment. I’m looking forward to 2015 and the fun we have here on TGD Radio and TV with preview, results, and commentary.
