Cape Fear national

Hello and welcome to this edition of Tee It UP Wilmington (and Grand Strand) as host Shan Coughlin welcomes Brad Walker to give us the Cape Fear National October update.  Cape Fear is set inside the master-planned community of Brunswick Forest just 5 1/2 miles south of historic Downtown Wilmington North Carolina on Highway 17.  This makes it the perfect spot if you are heading to, or leaving from, the Myrtle Beach area or BOTH.  This course is spectacular with more than 1500 linear feet of bridges, three separate waterfalls, several ponds full of wildlife, strategically placed rock walls, drive-through sand waste areas and beach bunkers.  A Cypress Marsh also frames a good portion of the front nine.

Cape Fear National ~ Number 9Cape Fear is a Par 72, Tim Cate design that plays 7,217 yards from the tips.  The practice facilities include a driving range, expansive putting green and a variety of short game practice areas.  The clubhouse features a 19th Hole Grille and Bar (which we have sampled and totally approve of), indoor/outdoor dining, a golf shop and other amenities.  There is enough spaces to make a wonderful corporate event or to hold a wedding.  This facility has won the Top 10 Best New Courses 2010 from Golf Magazine, Best New Courses List 2010 Golfweek Magazine, Best Residential List 2011-2014 Top 100 (old and new courses) Golfweek Magazine, Top 10 Best Courses You Can Play in North Carolina, 2011 and 2012 Golfweek Magazine and the #11 Best Course You Can Play in North Carolina 2013 and 2014 Golfweek Magazine.
