Host Shan Coughlin joins General Manager Jason Monahan at Meadowlands Golf Club to discuss course conditions and the approaching fall golf season on this edition of Tee It Up Grand Strand – Play Meadowlands Golf Club September 2015 Update.   With cooler temperatures along the Grand Strand, excellent course conditions and great package deals available to golfers, Meadowlands Golf Club is ready to welcome guests for fall golf season.  “The superintendent and his crew – they deserve all the credit for course conditions,” said Monahan. “The greens are absolutely phenomenal out here at Meadowlands…And truly, we tip the cap to the superintendent and his staff. They grow it, we sell it,” he said.

Meadowlands ClubhouseNot only does the great course bring visitors to play at Meadowlands Golf Club, the atmosphere does as well. Coughlin pointed out that the golf is great; the after golf looks to be superb, as well. With guests dining on the screened-in porch, enjoying the breeze and the scenic views, the ambiance is very relaxing.  Monahan agreed, “Meadowlands has a country-style, down-home southern feel. So, we get a lot of folks who like to sit back and relax, especially on the back deck overlooking the beautiful fountain and pond.” He said Meadowlands is a very comfortable place, and golfers feel at home when they visit.

In addition to great course conditions and relaxing amenities, Meadowlands also offers great value to players. Monahan described Meadowlands as being in the “pound-for-pound; the best fighters in the world” category.  “I like to put Meadowlands in that category because the price point that we are at is a very aggressive price. It is very inexpensive compared to the product you receive. You’re receiving top-notch conditions – especially with the putting surfaces, and you’re paying a bargain basement price,” Monahan explained. “So, the value that the customer gets when they come out here is unbeatable.”

The Meadowlands course is a traditional-style parkland course, which features elevation changes and tree-lined, narrower fairways. Its sister course, Farmstead Golf Links, is a link-style course, which offers golfers more open spaces, grass-framed fairways and scenic lakes. The two courses compliment each other because they are both completely different styles, but are only about one mile apart.  “We can give customers an overall, 36-hole experience that’s unbeatable,” Monahan said.

Meadowlands 2Meadowlands Golf Club is also known for its upbeat, friendly staff.  “It does take a certain ‘something-something’ to really keep that smile on your face day in and day out,” Coughlin pointed out, “and I think that ‘something-something’ is this beautiful golf course, and obviously great ownership and great management – yeah, I’m sucking up a little bit. But I can do that!” she laughed.  Monahan agreed, “Both facilities – Farmstead and Meadowlands, have outstanding staff. We’ve created a team atmosphere. Everybody works together and supports each other. And that’s the entire goal. We want to have fun, and if we’re having fun, then the customers that are coming to visit us see that, then it rubs off. So, customers first. I mean, everybody in this town is selling the steak, we’ve got to sell the sizzle,” he said.

Another exciting feature at Meadowlands Golf Club is the separate course for FootGolf.  “Footgolf is brilliant,” Monahan said. “Basically, we are taking a soccer ball and you’re playing the golf course with that. It has its own FootGolf course that is completely separate from the putting surfaces, but the FootGolf course does intertwine within the golf, so you’re getting a golf course experience in a soccer-style atmosphere.”  Monahan explained that FootGolf is quickly increasing in popularity, and is “loads of fun” for the whole family, all ages and all demographics. The sport is a great way to introduce the world of golf to kids or those who have never played, at an extremely affordable rate.
