logo-FarmsteadShan Coughlin, host of Tee It Up Grand Strand welcomes Head Golf Professional and General Manager Jason Monahan to the show for the inaugural Play Farmstead Golf Links April 2015 Update.  Everyone here would like to welcome Farmstead Golf Links to The Golf Director family, a golf course built on its owners’ farmland which includes a rich history in the Brunswick County area. It, along with its sister course, Meadowlands Golf Club is located along the border of North and South Carolina just three miles off Highway 17, the main stretch through the Grand Strand just minutes from North Myrtle Beach.

FarmsteadFarmstead Golf Links is quite unique with several characteristics you won’t find anywhere else.  For example, it is the only golf course located in BOTH North and South Carolina.  Jason tells Shan that as golfers play the course, they will actually cross that border four different times on holes 10, 14, 16 and 18.  Number 18 is also unique in that it is a regulation par 6.  Jason says that the saying goes that the hole is so long they had to put it in two states.  Teeing off in South Carolina, golfers are about 450 yards to the North Carolina line.  You can’t see the green from the tee so the tee shot is to take it toward the clubhouse, staying on the right until you see the water and then wrap around it towards the green.  Farmsteads number 18 is the only par 6 on the grand strand and the last Jason was aware, is one of only 6 or 7 in the United States.

Farmstead-18-Green-with-ClubhouseSpeaking of the clubhouse, it is a stunning, 7000 square foot colonial style farmhouse with plenty of room for golfers to relax, shop, eat or hold events.  Farmstead was opened in September 2001 right after 9/11, and has continued to gain reputation for course conditions and customer service year after year.  For the most up to date information, visit their featured golf course page here on the Golf Director under the destination tab or go direct to their website by clicking their banner on the right or visiting httpss://farmsteadgolflinks.com/.
