Meadowlands Golf Club is a fun golf course located right on the state line in North Carolina just north of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. General Manager Jason Monahan took a few minutes of his day to spend time with our host, Brian Stefan to brag about his course on Tee It Up Grand Strand.
Designed by Willard Byrd and David Johnson, Meadowlands is a golf course that golfers of all ages and ability levels will be sure to enjoy. The generous fairways and large, well manicured greens make for an enjoyable golfing experience.
The golf course is in fantastic shape right now. Meadowlands uses the over-seed system of keeping the course healthy and green. In the fall they lay the “cool weather” rye grass so that the course is plush, healthy and growing grass through the winter and spring golf seasons. The transition is almost seamless. Visiting golfers will barely notice the grass changeover. It does not affect play.
In the spring the opposite action is taken. In March the superintendent and his crew will seed the warm weather bermuda grass back onto the course. Bermuda of course, thrives in the warm and hot weather that the Grand Strand sees through late spring and summer. So once again the golf course is plush, healthy and growing. It provides an enjoyable playing experience for golfers. Meadowlands Golf Club really knows how to take care of its golf course so that they can take care of the golfers.
In the fall of 2015 the Grand Strand was basically flooded by historical rainfall. Meadowlands was mostly under water. The management and grounds crew has done an incredible job of bringing the golf course back into excellent playing conditions. In fact, golfers will not be able to tell that this golf course was flooded. It is amazing what they have done.
After enjoying a great round of golf the clubhouse is a must stop attraction. It sits on a beautiful little pond with a fountain in the center. The back porch area is covered for cool outdoor enjoyment. Take in lunch on the porch or head down to the deck that actually extends out over the pond for a cold beverage to relax and enjoy the view. There is not another spot like it at a golf course on the Grand Strand.
