McIlroy, Stinson, Lydia Ko, and more are the headlines of Monday Morning GolfRap for November 24, 2014. The broadcast team of George Honeycutt and Hugh Royer III  recaps the DP World Championship, The Race for Dubai, and the The CME Group LPGA Tour Championship. Monday Morning GolfRap is presented by the Myrtle Beach Golf Authority.

McIlroy, Stinson, Lydia Ko Lydia Ko

Co-host HR3 had to eat a little crow this morning after chiding the Godfather for his CME Group LPGA Tour Championship pick of Lydia Ko in last week’s episode of Pro Golf Talk on TGD Today. The Godfather stated (with her ability to hit fairways) she would be the one to beat if she could keep her putter going. That she did. Not a bad ending for the LPGA as the rookie New Zealander, Lydia Ko takes home the largest single payday for an LPGA player (a rookie) in the history of the organization. Ko, parred the 4th playoff hole to take home the prize, and seemed oblivious to the apparent pressures felt by the veteran players. With the $1 million bonus, Ko, who at the age of 17 doesn’t yet drive a car, took home $1.5 million. When asked what she intended to do with her winning, she said she would by her mother a new handbag.

Rory McIlroy – Henrik Stenson

Rory McIlroy showed some rust having played very little over the past 6 weeks, but came away with the Race To Dubai Championship Trophy and maintained his World #1 position. McIlroy finished T2 in the DP World Championship tournament with Justin Rose and Victor Dubuisson. Henrik Stenson played solidly to take the DP World Championship win and moved into the position of World #2.

Rafael Cabrera Bello

The players experienced pristine conditions at the Jumeirah Golf  Resort throughout the 4 rounds, and through 3 days it appeared that Rafael Cabrera Bello was on his way to an awesome win. Cabrera Bello had a rough 4th round and finished T9 along with Branden Grace and Joost Luiten. Shane Lowry played stellar golf and finished in sole possession of 5th place. Tyrrell Hatton, Robert Karlsson, and Louis Oosthuizen finished T6.

As we enter the holiday season there’s very little golf competition and most likely no more headlines like McIlroy, Stinson, Lydia Ko left to follow and report for the rest of the year. We hope we’ve done that for you in our coverage this year. All TGD Radio and TV airs live, replays in a live loop, and is archived for listening and viewing on-demand.
