Arcadian Shores is the spot for this week’s stop on Tee It Up Grand Strand.  Our good friend Frank Coughlin takes some time out of his very busy day to talk about the news for the upcoming summer.  The course will be going through some changes.

Big news for this summer at Arcadian Shores is that they are getting a new clubhouse.  The old clubhouse is being completely demolished and a brand new house will be built.  Hopeful completion of the clubhouse will be mid-October just in time for the fall golfers to enjoy.

A new clubhouse is big for this old Rees Jones design.  Arcadian Shores is actually the first solo project for Jones.  He has visited the course occasionally over the years, making a few changes each time.  In fact when he heard the news of the plans for a new clubhouse he reached out to the club and gave his 2 cents worth.

This will be a very busy summer season for Arcadian Shores.  With its convenient location in between Myrtle Beach and North Myrlte Beach it is very easy to get here.  Good news for golfers in the warm summer season is the course’s proximity to the ocean.  It is under 1/2 mile from the water which lends to a cool summer breeze to help the golfers enjoy the round.

The course superintendent always keeps Arcadian in great shape.  The classic Rees Jones design has all golfers could want in a golf course.  There are strategically placed fairway bunkers mixed into the tree lined fairways.  The landing areas are generous and fair.   As golfers approach the greens they are treated to excellent green side bunkers that guard each putting surface.  The large, white sandy bunkers add to the beauty of the course as well as providing a challenge around the greens.

Just behind the bag drop is a first rate practice area.  Golfers can take advantage of a large putting green to get the putters sharp for the round.  In front of the putting area is a wide driving range and chipping area.  It is a great place to get some warm up swings in before a round or just stop by the course and hit balls for practice.  Either way the driving range and practice area at Aracadian Shores is a good area to work on fine tuning the game for golfers of all ability levels.
